Calcium Nitride
A compound made up of calcium and nitrogen. Ca3N2 is its chemical formula. It has a reddish-brown, crystalline form. Calcium nitride dissolves in water. It reacts with water to form calcium, and then releases ammonia. It is soluble in dilute acids and can be decomposed in alcohol. The heating of metallic calcium at 450 degrees Celsius in nitrogen is what produces calcium nitride.
Is calcium nitride ionic?

According to the temperature at which it is prepared, calcium nitride obtained can either be dark at 350 degrees Celsius, creamy white between 350 and 1150 degree C, or golden yellow at 1150 degrees Celsius. Because it is able to react with water or moisture, the formed calcium nitride can be easily identified and turn into calcium and/or ammonia.
Calcium Nitride is used
Ca3N2 can produce reactive nitride elements, while calcium (desiccant), is possible by heating calcium nutride to a temperature greater than 350°C.
